The purpose of the Office of Child Nutrition and School Health is to assist local school districts and other nonprofit sponsors in assuring that students are well-nourished, healthy, and ready to learn. 

MyPyramid.govIn June, 2004, Public Law 108-265, Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act was approved, requiring all local education agencies that participate in the National School Lunch Program to establish a local school wellness policy.

CACFP is the Child and Adult Care Food Program, a Federal program that supports or provides funding, for healthy meals and snacks served to children and adults receiving day care.

The Special Milk Program (SMP)provides milk to children in schools and childcare institutions who do not participate in other Federal meal service programs.

The National School Lunch Program provides nutritious lunches and the opportunity to practice skills learned in classroom nutrition education. 

NSLP Program

The National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program extend the nutrition and educational benefits to public and private non-profit organizations caring for the youth of Nevada in residential group settings.

Coordinated School Health (CSHP) includes policies and goals set by local school boards in partnership with parents, students, educators, health care providers, and other community members to help instill lifelong healthful habits in school aged children to improve academic success.
