Mission

The office of Career and Technical Education is dedicated to developing innovative educational opportunities for students to acquire skills for productive employment and lifelong learning.

Key Long-Term Objectives

1. Provide opportunities for learner to obtain academic and occupational proficiency. 
2. Encourage and foster coalitions among NDE, local school districts, families, employers, and service agencies to enhance students' education and development.
3. Provide all learners with a connected education pathway which leads them into the workforce in order to meet the economic development and diversification needs of Nevada, utilizing statewide employers and community agencies.

Accomplishments and Significant Changes

One of the greatest accomplishments for Career and Technical Education (CTE) during 2004 was the development and adoption for the CTE state plan. The plan, Career and Technical Education Skills for Employment and Lifelong Learning Initiative, will improve the quality of CTE by implementing program quality criteria that addresses the four pillars of No Child Left Behind and the key issues of the Nevada Plan "All Children Can Succeed."
